Irish racing yearbook 2024 press release - November 20th 2023

Sponsorship of Fairyhouse Racecourse Winter Festival 2nd & 3rd December 2023 Irish Racing Yearbook “Performance of the Weekend”

The Irish Racing Yearbook is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Performance of the Weekend at Fairyhouse Racecourse on 2nd & 3rd December as part of its Winter Festival.

The performance of the weekend can be for a trainer, a jockey or stable staff. It will be judged by Daragh Ó Conchúir, editor of the Irish Racing Yearbook. “This is a perfect fit for the Yearbook as capturing the highlights of our sport is what we are all about.”

Fairyhouse Racecourse Manager Peter Roe commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Irish Racing Yearbook, in this novel way to reward the performance of the weekend at the Fairyhouse Winter festival. This could be given for the best riding or training performance, someone winning their first Grade 1 or simply their first ever win. It is a blank canvas and looking forward to seeing who Daragh choses as the most- worthy recipient”.

The winning performance of the weekend will be announced after the Hatton’s Grace Race on Sunday in the Parade Ring. The lucky winner will be presented with a voucher for an overnight stay for two people including dinner at the luxury Killashee Hotel, which is an award- winning four-star hotel outside Naas in County Kildare.

Killashee Hotel is located in an enviable location in the heart of Kildare’s magnificent countryside. Close to three racecourses, historic and national visitor attractions including Russborough House, the Japanese Gardens and Irish National Stud, all only 15 minutes from Killashee Hotel. Newbridge Silverware and Kildare Village are also close by and always popular destinations. For further information visit www.killasheehotel.com

Commenting on the sponsorship, John Fleming of the Irish Racing Yearbook said “It’s great to be working with both the team at Fairyhouse and HRI on this very worthwhile initiative. Its’s so important for Ireland’s racing industry to acknowledge and reward the committed people who work all year round to give owners and spectators a great racing experience and day out”

Make sure to join the Irish Racing Yearbook on our social media channels of Facebook, Instagram and X (aka Twitter) to find out who will provide us with the winning performance of the weekend. See you all at Fairyhouse!
